Leijontornet
The Old Town of Stockholm is notorious for it's many tourist-trapping restaurants. Leijontornet is not one of them. Although they do receive their share of foreigners, this place is generally considered to be at the frontline of new Nordic cuisine, and gourmets of all ages and ranks flock round it's tables. The gastronomic vision at Leijontornet is to use traditional produce in an innovative way. A vision that could turn out disastrous, but in the case of Leijontornet it's simply divine. Just saying “langoustine on pearl barley” and “rhubarb Swiss roll with liquorice ice cream” makes your mouth water... The name “Leijontornet” means Lion Tower, and knowing that, the fact that the restaurant is located below ground is a bit confusing. But ask your waiter about it and you'll not only gain weight from the visit, but knowledge as well.
