LOFT
The stylish but reserved inhabitants in this part of town either have their groceries delivered to their doorstep, or they go out for dinner with friends. Some visit this new loft restaurant in the middle of the Upper West Side. The Near-East cuisine is spiced up with a healthy dash of Indian curry and ochre. The exotic waitresses are each dressed in their own stylish black fashion creations. A tree filled with tiny oil lamps and a wall of candles in milk bottles give the restaurant a Mediterranean feel. Crab dumplings with spicy tamarind sauce and poached scallops with date puffs as first courses, and a whole grilled bream with red onion and chopped ginger, served with various tajines are well-prepared, but not intended for big eaters.Address
