It’s still the place to be for trendy models and swinging businessmen. The restaurant part is divided up into different areas: the front part is a sort of terrace in summer. Although there’s a lot of rough brick wall and minimalist furnishings, the atmosphere’s anything but bleak. And the bar’s always crowded thanks to the friendly bar staff. There’s an intimate little corner at the back with lounge seats, pouffes and low tables: great for enjoying a cocktail, and you can order some appetisers while you’re waiting for a ‘real’ table, too. The menu is primarily eclectic, comprising a mixture of Japanese, Thai, Indian, New Zealand and French delicacies. The grilled scallops with chilli sauce are absolutely killing, while the roast lamb sirloin on crispy goat’s cheese polenta is a melt-in-the-mouth surprise. If you can’t quite manage a dessert, try the Chocolate Platter – a selection of sublime chocolates. For those who smoke, there’s a small smokers’ patio with a view over Nolita.
