Giorgione restaurant
Giorgione is owned by Giorgio DeLuca, co-founder of Dean and DeLuca, the gourmet supermarket on Broadway and Prince Street - renowned for its fresh products. You’ll often find him behind the bar, constantly exchanging spontaneous hugs with the locals. Two dishes are an absolute must: the thin crust pizzas and the buffet, which sports about a dozen different oysters and other seafood delicacies. Italian patrons love the risotto with berries and mushrooms. The wine list has a good selection of Italian wine and covers two pages (the menu only one). A pleasant, bright interior, with a cheese island for dessert. The crowd is in their mid-thirties, loud and lovely. Less lovely is the fact that the staff are employed by DeLuca, which sometimes leaves you wondering whether you really needed that umpteenth refill.
