Blaue Gans

Newcomer alongside the Austrian success numbers Thor, Wallsé and Strabarsky. The Gans is a high-ceilinged, open restaurant full of artistic posters, with a large rectangular table at its centre where trendy people in their twenties take their seats next to young families. The menu consists primarily of traditional dishes such as Gulasch Suppe, Bratwurst and Wiener Schnitzel, but do not expect enormous helpings of solid country fare - everything is subtly prepared and the portions are manageable. That's just as well. The Salzburger Nockerl with Huckleberries is to die for! Amuse yourself by listening to the serving staff struggling with all those difficult German words. More of a winter than a good weather restaurant. Unless you know the chef, you cannot book in advance, unfortunately. Definitely somewhere to come back to!
