Schiller's Liquor Bar
This old drugstore on the corner of Norfolk and Rivington stood empty for more than 10 years, until it was discovered and transformed into a French vintage bistro. Menus are written in straggling white letters on weather-stained mirrors. The walls are lined with rows of vintage port. Large ceiling fans spin slowly over 1950’s-style bistro chairs. The young patrons eat in small groups. An excellent place for Sunday brunch, where morning lasts until 6 p.m. The fact that the mimosas, Bloody Marys and screwdrivers are pre-mixed does not detract from their efficacy as hangover remedies – but you would do better to try the PIMMs Cup. The Norwegian poached eggs, Welsh rarebit or Huevos Rancheros will induce immediate nostalgia for Europe. The dinner menu is just as international as the people of New York, featuring lamb curry beside fish ’n chips and trout. One thing: there’s no getting around the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Forget your diet!Address
