Trestle On Tenth
Seen enough of modern art? Worked your way through all 200 galleries between Tenth and Eleventh and 20th and 26th and then some? Then it’s time for goat balls steamed in Alpine milk! Trestle on Tenth serves unusual fare: pork shoulder, frogs legs, kidneys, pork trotters, saddle of lamb. Certainly not recommended for vegetarians, although the chef promises to accommodate certain dietary restrictions. Lovely wines - not by the glass, but by the carafe - specialty cocktails, good music, chic thirty-something crowd. As far as the interior goes, the impressive brickstone wall is, by New York standards, an absolute eye catcher. There’s a pocket-sized garden at the back that doubles as cocktail place. Recommended evening: Thursday. This is when most of the gallery openings take place in Chelsea, where free alcohol is served. Don’t forget to book a table in advance. A very European touch: the place is closed on Mondays!Address
