The Red Cat
Local meeting point, where the preppy Upper West Side meets the grandiose Chelsea artists. It is an over-full, cosy-but-trendy French bistro with Lobster Cabin decor. A curved spoon and fork hangs on the Bordeaux red panelling over each table. The large bar with its ledges for bags, illuminated by vast Moroccan lanterns, is a bustling social centre. The overworked bartender serves Apperole Frizzals as an aperitivo alcoholico. The menu is that of a French bistro in America. Crêpes Gruyere with veal and crab salad with a cold julienne soup. The wine menu is extremely extensive. The serving staff is quick, and more than happy to take a retrieved fork from your hands to replace it.Address
