V Temnote
At the back of the impressive Red Army Theatre restaurant V Temnote (In the Dark) recently opened its doors. ‘In the Dark’ faithfully copied the proven formula of Paris ‘Dans le Noir’, meaning the waiters are blind as bats and dinner is served in total darkness. Guests follow the waiter as a chain of little ducklings into the blacked out cellar; even mobile phones and watches are left in a locker. Once safely seated, you're not allowed to stand up or leave without your blind chaperone. Besides a novelty and an psychological experiment, V Temnote actually creates an interesting culinary experience. Smell and taste intensify in the dark, so salt and pepper are sparsely used. The dishes are never really hot and coffee and tea aren’t served, for security reasons. You can choose between four surprise-menu’s: red (meat), blue (fish), green (veggie) and white (omnivore). The fun is guessing what you had for dinner. It’s hard to place the turkey in mango sauce and the pâté de foi Grasse. Definitely pay a visit to the restroom, a futuristic experience.
