Young, smart intelligent as well as streetwise? That, or the Serbian nationality, gets you in at the private club Solyanka, named after the national dish of cabbage with meat soup. In a monumental 18th century merchant’s house, which has been skilfully freed for the electro hype, it is not all about the menu. The steak, French fries, borsj, Caesar salad and other snacks are, compared to the quality, on the pricey side. You find there in the restaurant/lounge as well as in the dance hall what is, by Moscow standards, a relatively unique mix between those who come in and do not plan on hiding their enthusiasm, dancing skills and ability to communicate nicely. Drink, cigarettes and - it appears – other substances lend a hand with this. So forget the mini skirted bimbo’s who read their SMS messages on an overpriced table and get yourself in between antique sofas under chandeliers and take yourself to the pumping dance floor.
