During the week, Mayak does its very best to create an illusion of the set of ‘Amelie’, and quite successfully! Mayak calls itself a Tearoom, but do not expect teatime reserve here on Friday or Saturday; forget about muffled discussions of etiquette and society scandals. This tearoom is buzzing with energy! On the first floor of the Mayakovsky Theater, the finest flower of the acting and theatre profession in Moscow eagerly consumes the cakes, ice creams and fruit salads. Liberal quantities of vodka and cognac accompany these treats. Only the early morning cleaning crew know where the tea might be kept. Everyone talks, debates and cynically trashes the fad of the day. Later in the evening, live music and dance do the rest. Don’t forget to take along a carrot, pumpkin or courgette on your way home.Address
