Balthazar
Italy won the World cup in Berlin and this Berlin chef became Risotto world champion in Italy. The risotto coup happened a while ago but you can still taste it: in his first own restaurant, the German with the Swiss name puts on the menu what he tried out as the founder of the Italian-Japanese fusion cuisine. The former globetrotter also creates what he calls “metropolitan cuisine”, for instance safran-dashi consommé with grilled scallop (if the restaurant is busy it might happen that the scallop gets burnt) or marinated buffalo roast with blood sausage-roll casserole and pears-laurel compote. Wiener Schnitzel is an all-time classic here. The menu surprise with as many as twelve courses is served exclusively on the four meter long communal table, the centrepiece of the restaurant. The celebrities next to your table are for free. The right spot after an extensive shopping spree on Berlin’s glamour mile Kurfürstendamm or “Ku’damm” as Berliners say.Address
