Prater
The brawny security guy at the entrance may check your bags. However behind the gate with the Prater logo, that shows a snake-twined heart, you will get rewarded: Berlins oldest Biergarten that seats 600 on sunny days, attracts locals and tourists alike, and, because this is Prenzlauer Berg, also the hip scene. Families with kids sit beneath the shady chestnut trees next to the little playground. You can have wine too. If you are not a junk food diehard, you better not consider queuing up at the kiosk for a snack. On chilly days the Prater inn, a shack that is a preserved building, offers an alternative. The menu features German dishes such as Königsberger Klopse (meatballs with anchovies, capers, and lemon juice), goulash, and Wiener Schnitzel, also seasonal specialties such as game and white asparagus. The restaurant that resembles a upscale beer hall is the perfect place for group outings and communal dining. Not the right pick for a date. It can get quite noisy.Address
