Duke

The Ellington Hotel brings the twenties back to life. When you arrive by car, you are welcomed by a young man or girl in a type of Wimbledon outfit. In the section where the club is located, where once the Bowies and the Zappas zipped their cocktails, you will now find a smart restaurant with a fitting name. The wall is decorated with black and white photographs of this jazz phenomena while the rest of the interior is furnished quite sober, stylish and fitting for all times. Large wine cabinets and mainly lots of white. Apart from the hotel guests, you will find business men and woman from this commercial district of Berlin for lunch and having dinner in the late evening. The kitchen is creative, but modest and the menus are most certainly not expensive for what they serve. Pink baked veal filet with tuna fish, Jewfish (perch) with gnocchi and chorizo in chilli sauce. A mixture of Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. You could choose to sit outside, adjacent to the street, or on the spacious summer terrace. The service is exquisite but not too stiff.
