ZOE
Zoe is a restaurant with the menu and interior design as one has cometo expect in Mitte: sleek, minimalist, but with eye for detail and
quality. Food at Zoe, which comes in Mediterranean and Thai
variations, is good and surprisingly affordable. The wine and cocktail
list isn't bad either, so almost all ingredients for a pleasant lunch
or dinner are there. What can make a big difference though is the
service. One of the staff is amazingly charming, beautiful and
attentive, and makes you want to come back the next day, only to be
disappointed by some of her colleagues who are rather, well, let's be
nice and call it aloof. Styles in Berlin change quickly, but to be
served by someone who apparently has just whitewashed the walls of his
flat and can't be bothered to change into new clothes is surprising.
To be told by him that champagne can't be served by the glass today
because it means a new bottle would need to be opened is an experience
one can do without, also in the German capital of cool.
