Spindler & Klatt
The resurrection of the once-forgotten waterfront area beyond Schlesisches Tor was boosted by the opening of Spindler & Klatt a couple of years ago. A large bread factory has been converted into a
Berlin-style minimalist "clubrestaurant" with different rooms for dining (partly on loungy sofas), chilling and clubbing, complemented in summer by a wonderful terrace by the river. It caters to those wanting to demonstrate their sense of cool and who come with a lot of patience. Bookings are misplaced or sofas unavailable because those who came before you are in no rush to finish their reasonably good
Asia-influenced food. And if the self-important bar staff don't find you beautiful and female enough you may have to wait for your drink for a while. Which might just be topped off with cheap sekt if it happens to be an expensive champagne cocktail. All is forgotten and forgiven on the dance floor though, where DJs keep you busy until breakfast.
