The huge climatised wine cabinets near the entrance are good news: excellent wines galore, and even advanced wine lovers might be positively surprised by what they find. The interior is what you can expect from an upscale hotel restaurant with individual dashes, first of all the four impressive portrait paintings that dominate the restaurant with their bright colours. And yes, the pieces are originals rather than copies from Markus Lüpertz. Resort to the terrace if you prefer the view of roaring life on Kurfürstendamm to the restaurant AC. The attentive service leaves nothing undone in accommodating you during your visit. The ambitious chef, the uncrowned king of pigeon breast, has impressed even famous chefs with his Asian-style ravioli (pssst: the ravioli bags are made with ready-made dough from an Asian store) and braised Atterox (Galloway cattle can be found in the Austrian region around lake Atter). A gourmet bible ranked the 32 year old the “shooting star of the year” in 2005. Oh, and he likes food curious guests in jeans more than stiff gourmets in suits.
