Ottenthal
Austrian Schnitzel and prime-boiled-beef heaven is a long, narrow, dimly lit space where the dark and light brown walls make a nice contrast to the starched white tablecloths. Heaven’s guests sit so close together that they cannot expect much privacy. The advantage for tobacco addicts is that they don’t even have to light their own cigarettes, they can simply inhale the smoke from their neighbours’. Located between glittering Ku’damm and less glamorous train station Zoologischer Garten, the restaurant caters to regulars, tourists, young and old, and a significant number of media folk and their editors in chief who appreciate the constant range of well-prepared Austrian classics and seasonal creations. The owners employ their own herbs and mushroom gatherer. Leave room for a dessert because you do not want to miss Kaiserschmarrn (pancake with raisins and preserved prunes) or homemade Viennese apple strudel with whipped cream (one serving is plenty for two!).Address
