Ruen Mallika
Two hundred years ago, this teak house was surrounded by jungle and farmland. Now it is a curiosity among the Thai town houses in a narrow subsoi. An oasis reflecting times long past, there are triangular cushions on low tables in one of the private rooms, waitresses draped in colourful silk… The royal cuisine dates back to the chef's grandmother, with each dish lovingly presented and garnished. The menu is a veritable encyclopaedia filled with beautiful photos, including descriptions of the positive effects of each dish on your health. The deep-fried flowers, Tom Yam with crayfish and home-made coconut ice cream are a must. Sitting on the ground may seem quaint, but it is not always suited to the Western anatomy. If you have a bad back and/or long legs, choose the tables and chairs in the garden.
