Koi

With a sister in Los Angeles, it’s no wonder that Koi has started a restaurant in the City of the Angels. The décor, ambiance and clientele are every bit as elegant as in the original, and the bar itself offers so many delights that you will definitely linger here. They do have a tendency to favour the fashionable and famous; it seems any model featured in any glossy only has to smile to receive star treatment. The place is full of the world’s beautiful people and those who come to admire them, but that shouldn’t be a problem: the service is fast and efficient and the drinks are poured with a generous hand. Food served at the bar looks and tastes delicious. The music fits in perfectly with the general atmosphere and creates a ‘home from home’ for guests. Rumour has it that the Japanese-style dining room is worth a visit, provided, of course, that you can drag yourself away from the bar. Koi is situated in a renovated house at Sukhumvit No. 20. You can either take a taxi or walk from Asoke Sky Train. Tip: Sky Train and motorbike is the easiest, but make sure your hair is tidy before you walk in. Bangkok has a curious habit of ultimately rejecting this type of venue. Mind you, the way things are going, it looks as if they may be around for a good while yet.
