Hu'u
Once your car’s been checked for bombs, you’re allowed into the huge Ascott Hotel, where you can see the hip young Bangkok in-crowd downing one of the 150 different kinds of cocktail, mixed under the supervision of a real live Mixologist. Hu’u (pronounced as ‘who’) is a small atoll off the Balinese coast, although in Bangkok, it’s principally the name of a gigantic lounge bar and restaurant with a macho, stylish interior: dark-brown wooden floors, leather-topped tables and discreet lighting. If you’re sitting on the second floor you can hear the DJ droning on below in between the sounds of jazzy music. The menu features international cuisine as well as traditional Thai cooking, so there’s something for everyone. Although the dishes are of varying sizes, they are all absolutely delicious, especially the superb Lobster Manicotti. The waiters are really attentive, bowing low and asking: “How about the dinner, sir?” after each course. This is the right place to be for a sophisticated business date ending in a trendy bar.Address
